The First Look (“we”, “us”) operates thefirstlook.space. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. In short: we collect only what we need to run your plan, and your face photos are used for one purpose only — showing you your own progress.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, and optionally your first name and mobile number.
- Quiz answers: wedding date, skin type, skin and hair goals, sensitivities, budget, and time per day.
- Routine activity: which steps and milestones you check off, and when.
- Photos: the starting and weekly check-in photos you choose to take.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and a customer reference, never your full card number.
- Technical: your time zone and basic server logs needed for security.
Face photos
- We ask for your explicit consent before your first photo is stored, and record when you gave it.
- Photos are encrypted (AES-256) before storage, kept in private storage, and served only to you after you sign in.
- Photos are used only to display your own progress to you. They are never analysed by AI, never used to train any model, never used for facial recognition, never shared, and never sold.
- We never create edited, retouched, or simulated “after” images.
- Location and device metadata is removed from photos before they leave your phone, and again on our servers.
- You can delete any photo, or all photos, at any time in Settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent; deleting all photos also withdraws your consent.
How we use your information
- To build and show your plan. Your quiz answers (never your photos) are sent to our AI provider, Google (Gemini API), to write your routine. We use Google's paid API service, under which Google doesn't use this data to improve its products.
- Shelf scan: product photos you take are sent to Google (Gemini API) to identify the products, then discarded — they are never stored. Only the product names and ingredients you confirm are saved.
- Makeup artist summary: if you create a share link, anyone with it can see your first name, wedding date, skin type, sensitivities (pregnancy is never named), routine and products. Turn it off any time.
- To send the reminders you choose, by email (via Resend) and text message (via Twilio).
- To process payments (via Stripe).
- To keep the service secure and working.
We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
Text messages
Text reminders are optional and sent only after you opt in. Up to 3 messages a day. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. We don't share your mobile number or opt-in data with third parties for marketing.
Retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, plan, routine history, and all photos. Payment records are retained by Stripe as required for accounting and tax purposes.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including California and other US states with privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information. Most of this is available directly in Settings; for anything else, email privacy@thefirstlook.space.
Children
The First Look is for adults 18 and over.
